Since March 2018, the Education Support Center (ESC) has been a central component of the career-integrated dual study system with the aim of enhancing and optimising digital approaches and ideas in teaching and learning for different stakeholder groups at the DHBW Mannheim.
Driving forward the digitalization of the dual study system in Mannheim is one core goal of this innovative center of expertise. To this end we provide advice, instruction and continuous support in the application of new technologies in the classroom to internal and external lecturers, as well as to academic and administrative staff. The ESC team also provides in-depth consulting for a range of new technological tools, pedagogical methods and digital applications as well as related training courses. In addition, the Education Support Center collaborates with other universities inside and outside of Germany to promote smarter teaching and better learning.
In order to gain deeper insights in this area, the ESC team conducts a range of different research projects and is also involved in national and international collaborative initiatives. Close exchange with experts, lecturers, corporate partners and students is a key factor in establishing a modern learning culture that can be used effectively in the higher education system.
Prof. Dr. Andrea Honal and Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Heintz are responsible for the scientific management of the ESC, and Alexander Jaensch is the operational manager of this institution. Jürgen Bluhm and Robert Lahdo are also valued members of the ESC team. The ESC team is located in room D 222 (Building D). A virtual consultation is available on request.
Further materials and best practice examples to encourage the digitalization of higher education, as well as the current status of e-learning projects within the DHBW, can be found in the Moodle course room.
